What to do in the Event of an Accident

If you are involved in a traffic accident please follow these steps:

    • Stop the car, stay calm and do not get over excited even if you think the other driver is to blame.
    • DO NOT admit liability. Traffic regulations require that in the event of a road accident with an injury, the vehicle is not to be moved and the police are to be called. In order for the hospital bill to be paid by your compulsory insurance, an official police report must be presented to the hospital.
    • If there are no people injured, take pictures of the accident site and move your car to the side of the road to exchange insurance details with the other driver.
    • Give your insurance details to the other driver. The insurance papers should be in the glove compartment.
    • Details to be provide to the other driver: your name, your telephone number, your insurance policy and the telephone number of your local insurance agent.
    • Do not provide other information.
    • Take the other driver’s insurance details: Name, ID number and a telephone number of the driver, name and telephone number of his/her insurance agent, policy number and the vehicle license plate number.
    • Notify your insurance company immediately in order to enable them to properly handle the claim and the vehicle repair.

DO NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNTIL YOU ARE ADVISED TO DO SO BY YOUR LOCAL INSURANCE AGENT!
